‘I always liked Chelsea’…£25m defender suggests he’d love a move to Stamford Bridge at some point

VFB Stuttgart defender Dan-Axel Zagadou has suggested he’d love a move to Chelsea at some point in the future.

Zagadou, who was a previous £25m target for Arsenal, is thriving at Stuttgart this season as they sit third in the Bundesliga table.

The 24-year-old defender has become a key player for the German outfit, who are enjoying success thanks to Serhou Guirassy’s remarkable run of goalscoring form. Indeed, the big striker is attracting attention around Europe.

However, Zagadou is also a player who is doing the business for Stuttgart and he’s been speaking to BILD about his career to date. And in there, he admitted he’s a bit of a fan of Chelsea.

Speaking about the Blues, Zagadou admitted he’d always been a fan after growing up idolising a certain Didier Drogba.

“I’m a professional now, so I don’t have a favourite club anymore. When I was little, I was a big fan of Paris Saint Germain. And I always liked Chelsea FC because of Didier Drogba,” Zagadou said.

“Because of my Ivorian roots, Drogba is a great role model for me that I look up to. My father is also a huge fan of his. In Ivory Coast he is a national hero.”

Still only 24, there is every chance a player like Zagadou does make it onto the transfer list of a club like Chelsea.

Certainly, if he can keep up the sort of form he’s showing right now then like some of his teammates, a big move could be on the cards.

Zagadou has clearly been a player of interest to English clubs for some time and this little comment on Chelsea here might just tempt the Londoners into exploring things a bit further.
