Matty Cash’s brother now posts message on Twitter after Aston Villa vs Tottenham game yesterday

Aston Villa defender Matty Cash seems to have become public enemy number one for Tottenham fans over the weekend.

The Villa right-back clattered into Rodrigo Bentancur who then left the field injured shortly after. Bentancur is now expected to be out again after only just coming back from a serious injury.

For Tottenham fans, it wasn’t the first time Cash had got to them either. The Villa man also took out Mat Doherty a few seasons back, much to the annoyance of the Spurs faithful at the time.

However, there’s been quite the overreaction it seems from some, especially on social media, with a lot of unnecessary comments aimed in the direction of Cash.

And taking to X, Cash’s brother, Adam, seems to have had enough and has spoken out on the issues.

Taking to his own social media account, Cash’s brother appeared to aim a dig at what he’d seen from Spurs fans over the weekend.

Over the top on all parts

There’s no defending it was a bad tackle from Matty Cash on Bentancur. It was late and a bit of a nasty one and he was rightly carded.

However, just because Bentancur has only just come back from injury doesn’t mean that Cash should not go challenging people either. Yes, it’s unfortunate he’s gone down again with a new injury but that’s just how football goes at times.

As for the reaction online, well, it’s just quite absurd as usual. A quick scan of certain comments will tell you just what Adam Cash is referring to here.

Yes, it was a bad tackle, but some of the things being said are way over the top.

Hopefully, Bentancur will be just fine. But you can’t help but think that this is yet another example of the toxicity of social media at times after big games.
