‘This guy’…Tim Sherwood seriously impressed by £27m Arsenal player v Burnley today

Arsenal kept on pushing at the top of the Premier League table as they saw off Burnley at The Emirates this afternoon.

Leandro Trossard got the crucial goal in the first half that gave Arsenal the lead they craved to build on in the second 45 minutes.

Trossard, of course, has become a key player in the Arsenal squad since signing from Brighton. Playing today in place of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, Trossard keeps showing just why the Gunners shelled out £27m on him.

And watching the Arsenal game today for Premier League Productions, former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood was full of praise for Trossard’s impact.

Watching Trossard score the goal on PLP, Sherwood was impressed with what he saw from the Belgian.

“This guy affects football matches. His assists and goals are second to none. He knows he’s going to get hurt but he knows he’s going to put his side ahead and it’s going to be very difficult for Burnley to get back in the game,” Sherwood said.

Trossard’s goal came courtesy of another assist from Bukayo Saka and the pair do seem to form a good duo when they both play.

In terms of doing his bit, Trossard is doing all he can when selected. With Jesus out and Nketiah on the bench, all he can do is keep scoring goals and showing his worth.

Plenty of fans outside of Arsenal turned their noses up when Trossard was signed by Mikel Arteta. But he looks a shrewd signing every time he plays and showed it again today.

Winning trophies and titles is about having a deep squad who can cover each other. We saw with Tottenham today how they struggled with injuries.

For now, Arsenal seem to have just enough depth to keep on winning games with players out.
