The BBC Sport and ESPN pundit has noted the footballing journey of Murphy. The 28-year-old started his footballing career at Norwich City and had to work really hard to get to the level he is at now.

During his time at Norwich, Murphy was out on loan at Swindon Town, Blackpool and Colchester United among other clubs.

The winger moved to Newcastle in 2017. He had loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday. Murphy is now part of the Newcastle first-team squad and is playing well.

Murphy has made 134 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The winger has scored nine goals and given 12 assists in those games.

Newcastle are third in UEFA Champions League Group F with five points from five matches, two points behind second-placed Paris Saint-Germain and five points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.
