‘Some impact’: Illan Meslier and Adam Forshaw seriously impressed by £3m Leeds United player’s performance yesterday

Illan Meslier and Adam Forshaw were seriously impressed by Leeds United midfielder Sam Greenwood’s performance yesterday.

Greenwood came off the bench and replaced Marc Roca at the beginning of the second-half during the dramatic 4-3 win over Bournemouth.

The 20-year-old made a huge impact as he scored a stunning goal to get Leeds back in the game after going 3-1 down.

The £3 million man also set-up Liam Cooper to get Leeds back on level terms and he’s impressed his teammates after yesterday’s display.

Meslier and Forshaw impressed by Greenwood

The Leeds youngster posted a video of his brilliant goal on Instagram after the game.

Greenwood wrote: “Words can’t describe how I feel right now scoring my first goal in the Premier League and what a game to do it in !! So proud of this team and the fight we show !! Only way is forward now.”

Forshaw replied underneath the post: “Some impact mate,” accompanied by two applause emojis.

Meslier was also impressed with Greenwood and commented: “Chammm,” with a heart-faced emoji.

Greenwood has only started one game in the Premier League under Marsch this season but he will have certainly pleased his boss yesterday.

Crysencio Summerville grabbed the headlines after scoring another late winner and Wilfried Gnonto was brilliant after being introduced at half-time.

But Greenwood’s impact on the game won’t go unnoticed and the youngster could now be in line for a place in the starting line-up against Tottenham next weekend.

Roca and Tyler Adams have impressed in central midfield this season but Greenwood helped completely turn the game around yesterday.

It was an important win for Marsch and despite doing it the hard way, his side managed to build on that stunning win at Anfield last week.

The Leeds boss should now have some breathing space heading into the World Cup, regardless of next weekend’s result against Spurs.
