Charlie Cresswell, Joe Gelhardt and Kalvin Phillips have all lauded Sam Greenwood on Instagram after the striker’s display for Leeds United in their win over Watford on Saturday.
Leeds have put more daylight between themselves and the bottom three after a vital victory at Vicarage Road. Raphinha gave them the lead during the first-half.
But it was only in the final 20 minutes when Jesse Marsch’s side managed to settle the contest. And for many, it would have been little surprise that the key goals came once Marsch had made a change up front.
Dan James found it difficult to get into the game with Leeds trying to be more direct. And he was replaced by Greenwood midway through the second-half.
The 20-year-old did not score. But he was directly involved in both of the two goals scored while he was on the pitch.
It was his pass that led to the defensive mistake that allowed Rodrigo to go round Ben Foster and score Leeds’ second. And he provided the assist for Jack Harrison’s stunning strike to round off the win.
Despite playing a quarter of the game, no player provided more key passes than Greenwood (Whoscored). And it was certainly another occasion where Greenwood staked a claim for more game-time following his cameo at Wolves where he also provided an assist for Leeds.

Marsch was clearly impressed by the youngster’s display. But it would also appear that several of his teammates felt that Greenwood shone.
The forward took to Instagram to comment on the win and the performance. And several players, including Phillips, were full of praise for Greenwood.
