‘I got bullied’… Philip Billing says player Tottenham sold for £11m was impossible to play against

Mousa Dembele seems to be one of the most popular footballers in Premier League history among his peers.

The Belgian may not have made too many headlines during his time at Tottenham, but anyone who played with or against him truly appreciated how good he was.

Kieran Trippier named him as one of the best players he’s ever seen, while Danny Rose recently said that Spurs would’ve won the Champions League if Spurs didn’t sell Dembele for £11m in 2019.

Now, speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Philip Billing has named the Belgian as his toughest Premier League opponent ever, claiming that the former Fulham midfielder was one of the only players who’s truly bullied him on the pitch.

Dembele impossible to face

Billing gave his verdict on the former Tottenham star.

“Who has been your toughest Premier League opponent?” Billing was asked.

“Mousa Dembele. He was strong, he’s got everything. That’s the first time I felt like I got bullied on the pitch, which we don’t want,” Billing said.

Had it all

Billing says that Dembele had everything, and he’s not wrong.

Dembele was one of the only midfielders who we’ve seen who could combine, strength, speed, poise, technique and timing all at once, and that made him one of the very best midfielders on the planet for a time.

Sadly, his legacy in the Premier League will never be as great as it should be as he never won a major trophy during is time in England, but make no mistake about it, this is one of the best midfield players that has ever graced the division.

Tottenham could really do with a player like Dembele in the middle of the park at the moment, but, sadly, these types of footballers really aren’t easy to come across.
