Tottenham have been the surprise package in the Premier League this season.
Spurs may have lost their last two league games, but make no mistake about it, they’ve been utterly brilliant up until this point.
Ange Postecoglou’s side look like a team transformed, and many of their players have stepped up a level or two this term.
One player who has been utterly brilliant this term is Yves Bissouma, and speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley has claimed that the Mali international may deserve a spot in the Premier League Team of the Season so far, claiming that he’s been almost as good as Manchester City’s Rodri this term.
Bissouma almost as good as Rodri
Burley gave his verdict on the £25m man.
“Another player who you could have in there, and I’m not suggesting he’s better than Rodri, but you could have Bissouma, again, it’s the Tottenham angle here, but he’s been along with Sarr, Bissouma has been outstanding, but Rodri is such a good player,” Burley said.

Rodri is a class above almost every midfielder in the Premier League right now, but the fact that Bissouma is even in this conversation is incredible.
Last season, Bissouma was nowhere near this level. He was barely getting a game at Spurs and when he did play, he looked lost.

However, now, he looks infinitely better than he did last term, and he’s right up there with the best in the division.
Of course, Rodri has been ridiculously good for Manchester City, but Bissouma may well be the second best defensive midfielder in the league behind the Spaniard.
Bissouma has finally found his feet at Spurs, and he could lead Tottenham to something special this season if he keeps playing at this sort of level.
