Kalvin Phillips was amongst those to reply to former Leeds United teammate Alex Mowatt after the midfielder posted his latest stunning strike on Instagram.
Barnsley claimed a victory over Watford at Oakwell on Saturday. And it was Mowatt who got the decisive goal in the sixth minute for the home side.
The 25-year-old collected the ball just inside Watford’s half. He then took two touches before unleashing a vicious effort that found the top corner.
It was an amazing goal from the Englishman. But it is a goal that could certainly prompt a sense of deja vu amongst Leeds supporters.
That is because Mowatt’s strike looked incredibly similar to a goal he scored for the Whites before his departure back in 2016.
On that occasion, Mowatt sliced one into the top corner from a long way out to put Leeds 3-0 up away at Huddersfield.
The likes of Sam Byram and Lewis Cook were clearly not surprised by Mowatt’s latest strike – given what has gone before.
But Phillips did seem to be taken aback by the goal. The Leeds talisman had a simple three-word response in reaction to Mowatt’s post.
Here is Mowatt’s Instagram post along with some of the responses from former teammates…
