Sam Byram has told the Nottingham Post that he is open to rejoining Nottingham Forest in the summer as his loan from West Ham United enters the latter stages.
Byram, 25, has only managed four appearances for Forest since joining the Championship side on a season-long loan from West Ham. A knee injury he picked up at the start of the campaign has kept him sidelined.
The former Leeds United right-back returned to action in a 3-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday in the week, and he was one of the only Forest players with pass marks in a dismal loss.
The West Ham star – who joined the Hammers for £3.7million from Leeds in January 2016 (Independent) – has stated that he would be open to another loan at the City Ground, though did say he must speak to his parent club.
“I need to play football and, you know, if Nottingham Forest offer me football next season, I would not turn that opportunity down,” said Byram.
“But I need to sit down in the summer with West Ham, because I do not know what their plans are for me. I am hoping to keep playing here until the end of the season and then see where we go from there.”

Byram is a top-class right-back at Championship level. His 143 appearances for Leeds after breaking into the side from the esteemed Thorp Arch academy proved just that.

So if he can remain fit between now and the end of the season, he would certainly be a top signing for Forest this summer. His chances of breaking into the West Ham set-up seem unlikely.
Pablo Zabaleta is expected to sign a new deal while Ryan Fredericks is more than adequate back-up. Byram has little opportunity at the London Stadium, and a loan move to Forest would suit all parties.
