Despite experiencing a revival under caretaker manager Mike Jackson, there is still every possibility that Burnley could be relegated to the Championship.
Following the shock departure of Sean Dyche, the Clarets have picked up 10 points from five games during Jackson’s short tenure.
Jackson experienced defeat as Burnley boss for the first time after losing 3-1 against Aston Villa at Turf Moor last time out.
The Lancashire side sit above the relegation zone only on goal difference, but Burnley do have a game in hand on 18th-placed side Leeds United.
With both sides on 34 points, Burnley’s six-year stay in the top-flight remains at threat.
With three Premier League games remaining, TBR takes a look at Burnley’s last XI to play in the Championship which came in a 3-0 win against Charlton Athletic at The Valley in May 2016.

Tom Heaton
Burnley signed the three-time England international from Bristol City in the summer of 2013 after he was released, and Heaton spent six years at Turf Moor.
Aston Villa signed Heaton from Dyche’s Burnley for £8m and he had two season at Villa Park before returning to the club where his career began Manchester United.
Matt Lowton
The Chesterfield-born full-back was signed the summer prior to Burnley achieving promotion to the top-flight from Aston Villa.
Lowton is one game shy of making his 200th appearance for the Clarets and he’ll be hoping to achieve the landmark by keeping Burnley in the Premier League.
Michael Keane
Following a five-month loan at Turf Moor from Manchester United during the 2014-15 campaign, Burnley signed the centre-halve on a permanent deal in January 2015.
The 12-time England international was a permanent Burnley player for two-and-a-half years before Everton signed him for a fee that could rise to a club record-equalling £30m.
Ben Mee
Similar to Keane, Mee’s career began in Manchester and he was also signed on a permanent deal in January following a loan spell, but Burnley’s club captain arrived at Turf Moor from the blue half of Manchester.
With Mee out injured, the 32-year-old has been a vocal figure on the Burnley touchline alongside Jackson.
Mee’s contract expires at the end of the season but Burnley do have the option of extending his deal by a further year.
Stephen Ward
The man who made 50 caps for Republic of Ireland joined Burnley from Wolves in the summer of 2014.
Ward spent five years with Dyche before moving to Stoke City where he played for one season before joining Ipswich Town.
The 36-year-old has called time on his playing career after a season in League Two with Walsall.
George Boyd
After flourishing with Peterborough United, Boyd struggled to transfer that influential form over to his performances with Hull City.
Despite starting the 2014/15 season as a Tigers played, the winger was signed by Burnley and scored 12 goals across a three-year period. He scored Burnley’s second in the 3-0 win against Charlton six years ago.
Following a return to Peterborough, the two-time Scotland international retired in October after a 12-game spell with Salford City.
Joey Barton
The combative midfielder had two spells at Burnley which brought 58 appearances and the one-time England international scored three goals in the Clarets’ 2016 promotion campaign.
The 39-year-old is he manager of Bristol Rovers and he has guided the Pirates to League One after achieving promotion on the final day of season with a 7-0 win.
Dean Marney
Marney made over 200 appearances for the Lancashire side across an eight-year period after making the move from Hull City in 2010.
The former England Under-21 international made 41 Premier League appearances for the Clarets and he finished his playing career playing under former teammate Barton during their time together at Fleetwood Town.
Scott Arfield
The Canadian international had five years with Dyche at Burnley after signing from Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2013.
After 193 appearances with the Clarets, Arfield embarked on a new chapter and became Steven Gerrard’s first signing at Rangers.
With a Scottish Premiership title to his name, Arfield will be hoping to earn a place in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s starting line-up for the Europa League final later this month.
Andre Gray
Burnley signed Gray from Brentford in August 2015 for a club-record fee, which was reportedly £9m.
Gray scored Burnley’s third and final goal in the 3-0 win against the Addicks six years ago, it was his 25th Championship strike of the season, and he finished the campaign as the league’s top scorer.
After scoring nine goals in his first season in the Premier League, Gray was signed by Watford for a club-record £18.5m in August 2017.
Following four seasons at Vicarage Road, Gray moved on loan to Queens Park Rangers, but he could prove crucial for the Hornets next season, following their relegation to the second tier where he has 56 goals from 145 games.
Sam Vokes
After a three-month loan spell with Burney during the 2011-12 campaign, the former Wales international was signed on a permanent deal from Wolves.
Vokes struck up a deadly partnership with Gray in Burnley’s promotion campaign and he scored 15 league goals that season, one of which was the opener at Charlton.
After three years in the Premier League with the Clarets, Vokes joined Championship side Stoke City, in a deal which saw Peter Crouch move the other way.
The 32-year-old, who scored 11 goals for Wales, is in first season with Wycombe Wanders after joining last summer from the Potters.
And with 17 goals to his name this season, one of which came in the play-off semi-final against MK Dons, Vokes will be hoping to fire Gareth Ainsworth’s side back up to the Championship when they meet Sunderland in the play-off final.
