Sam Allardyce now shares whether he thinks Everton will stay up after points deduction

Sam Allardyce believes Everton are capable of staying in the Premier League despite the recent points deduction.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Allardyce shared his thoughts on Everton’s situation after Sean Dyche’s men were docked 10 points last week.

The Toffees have received a heavy punishment after breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The points deduction leaves Dyche’s side sitting second bottom in the league with just four points.

Everton were just beginning to find some form under Dyche this season and had picked up 14 points from their opening 12 games.

Despite the unprecedented punishment, Sam Allardyce believes Everton have enough quality to avoid relegation.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Allardyce was asked if Everton are capable of retaining their Premier League status after last week’s news.

“Yes, I do this season,” the former Toffees boss said. “I think with Sean now settled in, knows the team he’s got, knows the players inside out.

“I think the struggles of Burnley, Luton and Sheffield United, they haven’t hit the ground running this year. They’ve got lesser opposition to face at the bottom end of the table than last season.

“So, they could dig their way out of it. It’ll be difficult but I think they can do it.

“Everybody’s looking forward to what punishment is going to lie on Manchester City and possibly Chelsea on their Financial Fair Play deals. If this is just one break of the rules for 10 points, then how many rule-breakings against City?

“115. What will happen to Man City if you’ve got one charge with 10 points? I think that’s a particularly big fear for Manchester City.”

Everton currently sit two points behind 17th-placed Luton Town and while the points deduction is a huge blow, they remain above struggling Burnley.

The club has announced it will appeal the decision but Dyche will undoubtedly fancy his chances of keeping Everton up.

The likes of Luton, Sheffield United and Burnley have all struggled so far this term and there are plenty of teams down the bottom who are in more trouble than Dyche’s side, even after the points deduction.
