Fabrizio Romano shares what he now thinks Everton will do in the January window

Everton aren’t in the best of situations at the moment.

The Toffees have just been docked 10 points by the Premier League, and relegation is now, once again, a very real fear at Goodison Park.

Of course, as ever, the Merseyside club can find a way to fight their way out of this situation on the pitch, but, as with any relegation-threatened team, January additions could be vital.

Unfortunately, with ongoing FFP issues and a new stadium being built, Everton need to be stringent with their spending this winter, and speaking on The Debrief, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that he doesn’t expect to see much activity from Everton in January, claiming that the Toffees could take a conservative approach.

Everton won’t be busy in January

Romano shared his verdict on Everton’s winter business.

“Yeah, I think yes obviously. Everton are prepared to fight for their position, but at the same time I don’t expect them to go big in the January transfer window. To answer your question I expect them to be conservative. There is nothing concrete in terms of negotiations yet, but as a strategy, I expect them to be conservative, yes,” Romano said.

Difficult

This is a very difficult situation to navigate.

On one hand, Everton need additions to get them out of this mess they’re currently in, but, at the same time, spending too much is what landed them in this trouble in the first-place.

With a new stadium being built and a potential takeover bubbling away in the background too, it’s not much of a shock to hear that Everton won’t be maxing out the company credit card on new signings when the January window rolls around.

Everton are certainly one of the most intriguing clubs in the country to watch as we head into the winter, that’s for sure.
