Report: Leeds interested in Rangers winger Ryan Kent – again

Leeds United are, once again, interested in signing Ryan Kent from Rangers as the Whites consider potential replacements for Daniel James, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

James is attracting interest from Tottenham and Everton ahead of the final days of the window. It would be a surprise if the Welshman got the green light to leave.

But Leeds are keeping their options open. According to the Daily Mail, the Whites could make a fresh move for Kent after having a £15 million bid rejected last summer. They also tried to sign the Englishman in the summer following promotion to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail reports that his contract expires next summer.

However, Rangers will be playing in the Champions League this year. And one of the teams drawn in their group is Kent’s former side Liverpool. The Daily Mail suggests that that may be enough to convince the 25-year-old to stay.

The Reds meanwhile, will receive a portion of the fee should the Gers sell Kent.

The only thing that will surprise Leeds supporters is that it has taken until the final week of the window for Kent to be linked with an Elland Road switch.

He is clearly a player who is greatly admired behind the scenes. And he has been a fantastic signing for Rangers, contributing 80 goal involvements in 180 games for the Light Blues.

Steven Gerrard labelled him ‘sensational‘ during his time in charge. And he would suit Jesse Marsch’s system if he made the switch.

Much will depend on how much Rangers want for him. They may deem that they are better off taking the risk that he may leave on a free.

But it seems that, once again, a Leeds move cannot be ruled out just yet.
