Arsenal and Liverpool want to sign £198,000-a-week forward who rejected Tottenham

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Ansu Fati, a player who turned down the chance to move to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has claimed two potential hurdles for Arsenal in their quest to get a deal done for Fati.

So, what is being reported about Arsenal and Ansu Fati? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to Football Transfers, Arsenal are interested in Ansu Fati.

Fati is on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion from Barcelona at the moment. The Spain international forward made the move to the Seagulls in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport’s Guillem Balague, Tottenham Hotspur were close to signing Fati on a loan deal from Barcelona in the summer of 2023.

The report claimed that the youngster held talks with Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou, but as soon as he spoke to Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, he decided to move to the Seagulls.

Football Transfers has reported that Arsenal have “expressed an interest” in signing the £198,000-a-week (Salary Sport) forward.

However, there are two potential hurdles. The report has claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen on the youngster.

The other problem is that Fati himself wants to return to Barcelona at the end of his loan spell and prove himself at the La Liga champions.

Ansu Fati would be a coup for Arsenal

In my opinion, if Arsenal are able to sign Ansu Fati, then it would be quite a signing for the Gunners.

Fati is one of the best young players in the world. The Spain international is only 21 and has huge potential. After all, you do not play almost 100 La Liga matches for Barcelona without bring very good.

Of course, we know that Arsenal have a very good attacking unit. The Gunners are not exactly in desperate need of another wide player or ‘forward’.

What Arsenal need is a number 9, a striker who can bang in the goals more frequently than Gabriel Jesus does. Dusan Vlahovic has been linked. Ivan Toney is also on the Gunners’ radar.

However, Fati is one of the best talents around, and I believe that he would be a brilliant investment for Arsenal in the long run.

Fati has made one start and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Brighton and Hove Albion this season. The forward has scored two goals in those games.

The forward has scored two goals and given one assist in four UEFA Europa League matches for the Seagulls this season.
