‘Set to be completed’: Fabrizio Romano says ‘really good’ player is now close to leaving Leeds

Wales international winger Daniel James is on the verge of leaving Leeds United on loan to join Fulham on deadline day.

Fabrizio Romano says that only the final details remain to be sorted on a last-gasp exit for the former Manchester United winger.

Tottenham have been linked with a swoop for the rapid wideman but it seems he is set to move to another club in London.

Everton and Leicester have also been rumoured as destinations for James, but Fulham are now at the front of the queue.

James is now close to leaving Leeds

It seems that Leeds have their replacement already lined up in the shape of Bamba Dieng, who is set to arrive from Champions League outfit Marseille.

That move would shunt James further down the pecking order, which is a far cry from where he might have been expected to have been when Raphinha left the club.

It seems that James was more of Marcelo Bielsa’s man than Jesse Marsch’s, although the Leeds boss did praise James during pre-season.

After the Leeds United winger’s performance in their pre-season friendly with Brisbane Roar in Australia, Marsch said:

“We were forced to play Dan at striker a lot last year, and we know that’s not his best position. He likes to play more on the left.

“I’ve been challenging him to play a little bit more on the right, so he can set himself up on his right foot and make some final plays, which he did tonight. He had a really good performance.”

But it seems that James will now not get a chance of show Marsch what he can do on the left, and will soon be exciting the crowd at Craven Cottage instead.
