3 clearances, 100% tackling success:  ‘Outstanding’ Celtic player delivered a Tynecastle defensive masterclass

Earlier today I posted two pieces giving credit to the unsung Celtic stars who contributed to the 4-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

Honduran winger, Luis Palma, was being praised in the media back in his homeland and Liam Scales also delivered a brilliant performance that contributed to the trouncing of the Edinburgh side.

And now, TBR Celtic gives another shout-out to Hoops ‘man mountain‘ Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The US defender delivered another defensive masterclass against Hearts but because of the performance of Matt O’Riley, it has gone under the radar. Until now.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is a colossus for Celtic

Against Hearts, the US defender put in a flawless tackling performance. Rated 7.3 by SofaScore, the football website recorded five ground duels and eight aerial duels by the Celtic defender.

Carter-Vickers came out on top of all of these as he held the Hearts attackers at bay.

The outstanding 25-year-old also made three clearances, two interceptions and blocked a shot on target. And to cap it all off Carter-Vickers had 82 touches of the ball resulting in a pass success rate of 84%.

It really was an accomplished performance by a player who has become just as important to Celtc as Callum McGregor and Kyogo Furuhashi.

For £6m, the fee Celtic have paid for Cameron Carter-Vickers now looks like small change considering the return they have had from him.

Since he came back from injury, Carter-Vickers looks fit, strong and ready for the challenges ahead this season.

The fans will be hoping that CCV pulls in another performance like it against Athletico Madrid as they hope to overcome the Spanish side to keep their European dream alive.

But for now, let’s just appreciate just how good Cameron Carter-Vickers is and be thankful that he is in the heart of Celtic’s defence alongside Liam Scales.
