Simon Jordan says Brendan Rodgers has done something at Celtic which he really dislikes

TalkSPORT host, Simon Jordan, has said Brendan Rodgers has done something at Celtic that he’s really unhappy about.

The outspoken radio host was looking over Celtic’s loss to Atletico Madrid when he launched a tirade against Rodgers and claimed that the Hoops boss had already set Celtic up for failure before the Champions League had already kicked off.

Jordan said [TalkSPORT], “The argument [Jim White] is saying is he should be given a pass on that backstory that he’s advocating for, which is the change of culture from Ange to Brendan.

“I’m pretty sure he won’t know what the roster of players at Feyenoord and how injured their players may or may not have been to get results that they’ve got.

“I don’t think Brendan is entitled to it. I really don’t. I really like Brendan. I don’t like the way he behaved towards the end at Leicester. I thought that was weak on his part.

“I don’t like the politic and I don’t like the setting up the season in such a way, which is, he’s already priced in failure.

“He’s already made sure that people start to swallow that particular pill. So when it comes along, there’s an opportunity for him say, ‘Well, I did suggest that we’re going through this.’”

Did Brendan Rodgers really set Celtic up for failure in the CL?

To be honest, that seems like a pretty harsh assessment by Simon Jordan but I can see where he is coming from.

Excuses at the top level of football cannot be accepted and whilst I don’t feel that Rodgers has done that, maybe the Celtic manager’s public admissions of needing more quality and the players needing more time to adjust to his style of play subconsciously play into the player’s and the fan’s minds.

Maybe creating a public siege mentality at the club and speaking privately about adding better players might have made a difference.

We will never know now but Rodgers must start planning for next season because if the same results happen again, there will be no excuses accepted by the Celtic support.
