Liverpool could become favourites to sign ‘fantastic’ player for £43.5m

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could be the club to sign Khephren Thuram from Nice.

That is according to TuttoJuve, which has reported why Liverpool could become the favourites for Thuram.

So, what has been reported about Liverpool and Khephren Thuram? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to TuttoJuve, Liverpool, are among the clubs who are interested in signing Khephren Thuram from Nice.

The Italian news outlet has noted that Liverpool wanted to sign Thuram in the summer of 2023 and remain interested in the France international midfielder, who was described as “fantastic” by Nice’s former caretaker-manager Didier Digard on RMC Sport

Juventus and Inter Milan are keen on Thuram as well and have recently scouted him.

TuttoJuve have even reported that Juventus are leading the race for Thuram.

However, the report has claimed that if Nice stick to their asking price of €40-50 million (£34.74-£43.42 million), then Liverpool will be the favourites.

Liverpool do not need Khephren Thuram

In my opinion, Liverpool do not need to sign Khephren Thuram in the January transfer window or even in the summer of 2024.

If Liverpool are really looking for a holding midfielder, then they should look at someone like Kalvin Phillips, who is in his prime now and would be able to make an immediate impact.

Thuram is 22 now and is still developing as a player. Yes, the Frenchman has already played over 100 league matches for Nice and has a lot of experience, but Liverpool have enough good and promising young midfielders on their books.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones are very good midfielders. Liverpool also signed Ryan Gravenberch in the summer of 2023. Even Trent Alexander-Arnold is playing in midfield now.

Of course, every squad could be improved, but I do not think that Liverpool would be much better with Thuram in their team.
