Midfielder with ‘enormous potential’ could really join Newcastle for £35m in January

Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra could be about to make the move to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United.

That is according to TuttoJuve, which has reported how much transfer fee Newcastle would have to pay for Guerra.

So, what has been reported about Newcastle United and Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to TuttoJuve, Newcastle United and Juventus are interested in signing Javi Guerra from Valencia in the January transfer window.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Newcastle are now preparing a bid for Guerra.

TuttoJuve has claimed that the Valencia midfielder “could go to St James’s Park” to join Eddie Howe’s side for €40 million (£34.76 million).

Juventus are unable to pay €40 million (£34.76 million) for Guerra, who is “a player with enormous potential”, according to Valencia Sporting Director Miguel Angel Corona in The Daily Mail.

Interestingly, The Daily Mail reported in October that the 20-year-old has a release clause of €100 million (£86.89 million) in his contract. The report noted interest from Manchester United in the Spain Under-21 international midfielder as well.

Yet, Valencia could sell him for less than half that sum in January, according to TuttoJuve.

Javi Guerra could be a coup for Newcastle United

In my opinion, Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra would be a good signing for Newcastle United in the January transfer window, especially if they get him for €40 million (£34.76 million).

Yes, Guerra is just 20 now and is still developing as a player, but interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in him shows just how highly he is rated in the footballing community.

The midfielder is already playing regularly for Valencia. The youngster has made 11 starts and two substitute appearances in La Liga this season. He has scored three goals and given one assist in those games.
