Report: Tottenham now want to sign ‘very fast’ £27m striker, who Arsenal sold for just £500k

Tottenham are keen on the signing of Dortmund star Donyell Malen, according to transfer guru Rudy Galetti. The player is in the sights of several clubs, with Spurs thought to be one of the interested parties.

Malen move to Germany from PSV for £27 million. He had scored 55 goals and claimed 24 assists during 116 appearances for the Dutch giants and felt the need to head to a top European club as the next step.

His transfer to Dortmund has been something of a slow burner. He’s made 17 appearances during 2022/23, scoring once and laying on three goals in the way of assists throughout the campaign.

Malen has played 19 times for the Holland national team. However, he wasn’t included in the 26-man squad named by Louis van Gaal for the World Cup in Qatar.

It’s not clear at this stage whether or not he would be available for transfer. Tottenham are carefully monitoring the situation and it could be an interesting capture for the North London-based club.

Malan came through the youth ranks with Arsenal. He was sold to PSV for just £500,000 and that seemingly looks like a big mistake from a Gunners perspective.

He’s gone from strength to strength since departing. Malen showcased his class at PSV and is now looking to make more waves at Dortmund over the next few months.

Tottenham keen on signing Malen

The 23-year-old is rapid and is capable of playing on both flanks. Now, the player could be on the move, with Spurs keen to pounce if he becomes available.

Malen perhaps doesn’t have the goals or assists that his performances dictate this season but it’s not through a lack of trying.

Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl praised him at the start of the season. He claimed that he’d worked hard throughout the summer to get himself up to the standard required.

Tottenham could certainly benefit from another bit of quality in attack. Harry Kane and Heung-min Son are the two main sources of goals and they’d welcome some help.

Malen is a player who is yet to hit his full potential. As a result, he could prove a very useful signing for Tottenham indeed.
