Arsenal and Chelsea striker target’s value could plummet to £60m in 2024 summer

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea could be able to sign Ivan Toney for a lower price if they wait until the end of the season.

That is according to The Mirror, which has noted which club between Arsenal and Chelsea Toney prefers.

So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Chelsea target Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to The Mirror, Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing Ivan Toney from London and Premier League rivals Brentford in the January transfer window.

Brentford want as much as £100 million for Toney now. The striker is banned at the moment, but he is available to play again in January 2024.

The Mirror has claimed that Brentford would likely consider selling the England international striker for £80 million.

Interestingly, the report has noted that Toney’s value could plummet to £60 million in the summer of 2024 because he would then have just 12 months left on his current contract.

The Mirror has claimed that there is a sense that Toney, a player Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to sign, would prefer a move to Arsenal to a transfer to Chelsea.

Ivan Toney should pick Arsenal over Chelsea

In my opinion, Brentford striker Ivan Toney should pick Arsenal over Chelsea. Darren Bent would love him at the Emirates Stadium.

Toney is 27 now and is at the top of his game. I believe that if he is to leave Brentford, either in January 2024 or in the summer of 2024, then he has to move to a club who are winning titles or at least seriously competing for major honours.

At the moment, Arsenal is that club, not Chelsea. The Blues may not even end up in the Premier League top four this season. The Gunners could win the title and are also playing in the UEFA Champions League.
