‘We smashed them’…Victor Osimhen teases Liverpool, amid claims Klopp wants to sign him

Victor Osimhen has been discussing Napoli’s 4-1 win over Liverpool last year and did not mince his words when doing so.

Osimhen was part of the Napoli side that hammered the Reds 4-1 in the Champions League as the Italians kickstarted a brilliant European campaign.

The Nigerian striker is widely regarded as one of the best forwards in Europe and he has been linked with a host of English clubs, including Arsenal and even Liverpool.

Whoever does land Osimhen knows they must pay a premium. The Italian club paid around £50m themselves and it could take double that to sign him.

And speaking about that night against Liverpool on The Obi One podcast, Osimhen admitted his Napoli side ‘smashed’ Liverpool.

“We went 10 straight games without losing or having a draw, we were winning every game and then we had the game in the Champions League against a big team like Liverpool. Everyone was up and spirited to do so well in that game. Then, of course, we smashed them in Naples. Of course, they were a very big team but I think the motivation we took into that game was really high. We had an amazing run of wins and got a lot of big wins away from home. AC Milan and Atalanta, I loved them,” Osimhen said.

Osimhen would make Liverpool Champions

With reports actually suggesting recently that Liverpool have some sort of agreement in place for Osimhen, there is no doubting the excitement his signing would bring.

The striker is definitely one of the best in Europe right now and there’s absolutely no doubt he improves nearly every side in the world.

For Liverpool, it’s hard for them to really fit a proper centre-forward into their line up. Darwin Nunez cost big money but even he has played wide at times.

However, if Osimhen is on their radar and is available, then Liverpool have to make their move for him.

Players like this don’t come along too often and if Osimhen can land at Anfield, then he genuinely makes them serious contenders both in Europe and domestically.
