Jamie Carragher has told The Overlap that Marcus Rashford is not good enough for Manchester United, with the pundit claiming that the striker is more suited to either Tottenham or Arsenal.
Like many of his teammates at Old Trafford, Rashford is coming towards the end of a dreadful campaign. The 24-year-old only started 13 times in the Premier League. And he only completed 90 minutes in any competition once following the turn of the year.
Of course, some of the United players are set to receive a clean slate. Erik ten Hag is coming in. And some will hope that his appointment proves to be a real turning point.
For others however, ruthless decisions may be on the way. And Carragher is one of those who believes Rashford is not at that level required for where the Red Devils hope to go.
Intriguingly, he suggested that he would be better off in North London than at Old Trafford.
“He’s just not quite good enough for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford – he’s Tottenham or Arsenal,” he told The Overlap.

“He’s not going to win you the league. Be a squad player, he’s not quite good enough to be in the first XI to win United trophies, he’s just a level below that.”
Rashford more suited to Tottenham or Arsenal
Now, it is important to point out that neither Arsenal or Tottenham finished below Manchester United this season. So their fans may take exception with the idea that Rashford is not good enough for United, but is for them.
But Arsenal may not mind if United think a similar way to Carragher. Reports recently claimed that the Gunners want the England international. And Rashford is apparently aware of their interest.
Meanwhile, reports also suggested that United could offer Rashford to Tottenham in a swap bid for Harry Kane. Of course, the likelihood of Kane leaving this summer has diminished considerably.
Rashford does have the potential to be a ‘special‘ player. But there is an argument that neither Tottenham or Arsenal fans would be overly excited if their club signed him this summer.
