Germany’s national media deliver verdict on Arsenal’s Kai Havertz after he played as a left-back v Turkey

Arsenal summer signing Kai Havertz started for Germany against Turkey on Saturday.

Havertz can play as a midfielder or as a forward, but the former Chelsea player was deployed as a left-back for Germany.

So, what did the German media make of Arsenal player Kai Havertz? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Arsenal player Kai Havertz was in action for Germany against Turkey in a friendly international on Saturday.

Havertz is an attack-minded player who can operate as a midfielder or as a forward.

So, it came as quite a surprise to me when I noticed that the 24-year-old was starting the match at left-back for Germany.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann, though, was confident that Havertz would excel in the left-back role, as you can see.

And, to be fair, Havertz did start the match well. The Germany international scored after five minutes when he converted a Leroy Sane cut-back.

Havertz, though, gave away a penalty in the second half when he handled the ball. Yusuf Sari scored. Germany lost 3-2 to Turkey.

Germany’s national newspaper Bild has given Havertz 4 out of 10 for his performance, as you can see below.

Havertz joined Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has scored one goal and given one assist in 12 Premier League matches for the Gunners.

Arsenal and Germany international Kai Havertz needs to lock down a position

Kai Havertz is 24 now, and I do not think that it is a good idea for him to be playing in a number of positions.

In my opinion, Arsenal and Germany international Kai Havertz needs to lock down a position and make it his own, both for club and country. Especially now when he is struggling to play to the best of his abilities.

I personally think that the 24-year-old is at his best playing behind the striker. Havertz is a playmaker – a number 10.

At Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta has played him mostly in central midfield. I do not think that we will see the best of Havertz in that position.

The problem for Havertz at Arsenal is that Martin Odegaard is the main playmaker and is a really brilliant player.

There is no way that the Norway international attacking midfielder should be moved from his position to accommodate Havertz.
