Arsenal transfer news: £200,000-a-week player holds talks over January exit

Arsenal defensive midfielder Thomas Partey is actively in talks over a potential exit from the Emirates Stadium.

That is according to FootMercato, which has named the club who are trying to convince Partey to make the move in the January transfer window.

So, what is being reported about Arsenal and Thomas Partey? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to FootMercato, Juventus are interested in signing Thomas Partey from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The French news outlet has claimed that Juventus are actively looking to sign a new midfielder in the middle of the season to enhance their chances of winning the Scudetto.

The report has noted that the Juventus management has already met with Partey over a potential move.

Partey is injured at the moment. The 30-year-old has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Arsenal this season.

Arsenal cannot offload Thomas Partey without signing a replacement

In my opinion, Arsenal should not sanction an exit for Thomas Partey in the middle of the season without having a replacement lined up already.

That would be disastrous for a team who are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.

True, Partey has had injury problems and has often been played at right-back this season, but we know that the Ghana international is a very capable and competent defensive midfielder.

Arsenal need a strong squad with players who can come into the team at short notice and make an impact.

The Gunners have been linked with Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips as a potential replacement for Partey. Ruben Neves is also on the North London club’s radar.

I believe that until and unless Arsenal are certain of bringing in a player to replace Partey, they must not let the £200,000-a-week (Spotrac) former Atletico Madrid star leave.
