‘Nowhere near being good enough’: Pundit says £47m Man United player is miles off it

Andre Onana put in one of the all-time terrible Champions League performances this week for Manchester United.

The Cameroon international has, sadly, picked up a reputation for making blunders this season, and he was at it again on Wednesday.

He was arguably at fault for all three goals against Galastaray, and that’s not the first time this season he’s made a big mistake in a big game.

Fans and experts are losing patience with Onana, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Clinton Morrison has now given his verdict on the £47m man.

Morrison says that Onana was United’s biggest problem against Galastaray, claiming that he’s nowhere near being good enough for this team.

Onana isn’t good enough

Morrisson gave his verdict on the goalkeeper.

“Man United’s biggest problem against Galatasaray was Onana. Two of the goals were his fault. He’s nowhere near being good enough. He’s not better than David De Gea. Do you know what he is? He’s better with his feet than David De Gea, but shot stopping, David De Gea is a better goalie than Onana,” Morrison said.

Onana has been way off it

When you pay £47m for a goalkeeper, you expect them to be able to keep the ball out of the net.

Yes, Onana is this adventurous sweeper who can pick out a pass and do all the things we speak about ‘modern goalkeepers’ doing, but at the end of the day, he can’t keep throwing the ball into his own net.

Onana has now made numerous high-profile mistakes, and, ultimately, it’s likely to cost United their place in the Champions League this season.

Onana, quite simply, isn’t coping with the pressures of being United’s number one, and it may soon be time for the Red Devils to look at giving someone else a run between the sticks.

Put it this way, Onana is very lucky that Erik Ten Hag is at the club, because most other managers would’ve dropped him by now.
