Kieran Tierney really impressed by Greg Taylor’s Celtic form

Kieran Tierney has suggested that he has been really impressed with Greg Taylor‘s form for Celtic, insisting that he has watching the left-back’s performances to help him with his own game at Arsenal – in comments reported by The Independent.

Some time ago, it would have been unthinkable to imagine Taylor receiving a raft of plaudits. The 24-year-old came in for a lot of criticism during his first two years at Parkhead.

His cause was probably not helped by the fact that he came in in the same window in which Tierney left for the Gunners. The boyhood Hoops fan had been unbelievable during his time in the first-team before his £25 million switch.

There were times, from the outside, where it seemed that Taylor was simply not cut out to make the grade. But the arrival of Ange Postecoglou has proved to be a turning point.

‘He’s been brilliant’

Taylor has been playing extremely well this season. And his form in the role as more of an inverted full-back has certainly left Tierney impressed.

“He’s been brilliant, inverted full-back, and that’s how we are playing down there, so I’m watching him every week trying to take tips from him,” he said, as reported by The Independent.

“And it’s been brilliant to see him doing well because he’s a great guy. I’m really close to him, I speak to him a lot, so I’m buzzing for him.”

Tierney is facing a fight for his spot in the Arsenal side. In previous years, only injury prevented him from being one of the first names on the team sheet at the Emirates.

But the Gunners have signed Oleksandr Zinchenko. And the Ukrainian has been electric since his summer switch from Manchester City.

Tierney’s ability to adapt to what Arteta wants may determine how much he plays. But given his work-ethic and his quality, it is hard to imagine it will take the Arsenal man too long to adapt to the role.
