Andy Halliday says Rangers will ‘live to regret’ not signing £3.5m Celtic player with ‘real quality

Celtic dipped into the transfer market this summer and added no less than eight players to the squad this summer.

Whilst some, like Marco Tilio, have yet to make a single first-team appearance, others have gone on and are absolutely ‘tearing it up‘ in the Scottish Premiership.

Just like Luis Palma is. The Honduran international has been in superb form for Brendan Rodgers this season and on Sunday against Aberdeen, he was simply sensational.

And it seems that Rangers will now live to regret not nicking in there and signing the £3.5m player this summer.

Former Rangers manager, Michael Beale said this of Rangers’ interest in the now Celtic winger [The Sun], “There was nothing between me and the player.

“It was very late into last season, early into pre-season when someone from his club was pushing him around and we could have taken him on loan maybe with an obligation (to buy) at the time, but it wasn’t one we were willing to do.”

And former Rangers midfielder, Andy Halliday says that may now come back to haunt his old club as he picked out Palma’s performance at the weekend as a moment of the weekend.

Halliday said [Clyde SSB], “Well, you know, I like a team goal and a bit of magic. So I’ve went for Oh’s goal and you can probably guess why.

“The ball in from Luis Palma. I’ve said a few times that Rangers might live to regret not getting him over the line during the summer.

“I think we’re starting to see why. I think he’s showing real, real quality and that ball in for the first goal is moment of the weekend as well as goal.”

Palma has been a great piece of business by Celtic. The £3.5m fee paid for him seems like a bargain when you look at what he has contributed so far this season.

Contracted to 2028, Palma is another player who will earn Celtic a huge fee if clubs come calling to sign him next summer.
