Kenny Miller delivers worrying verdict on Rangers star, amid reports Steven Gerrard is interested

Kenny Miller is quoted by BBC Sport’s Live coverage of Rangers’ 3-1 semi-final defeat to Hibernian as saying that Ryan Kent looks unhappy.

In the Gers’ first match since Steven Gerrard left Ibrox to join Aston Villa, Rangers were humbled by Hibs. Gio van Bronckhorst was in attendance.

A hat-trick inside the first 40 minutes from Martin Boyle proved to be enough at Hampden. Rangers were incredibly lacklustre throughout.

Scott Arfield got one back before half-time but Rangers failed to score a second – despite Connor Goldson crashing one against the bar late on.

A really poor defeat for Rangers, as their first shot at silverware goes begging. Kent was substituted on the hour mark, during the defeat.

Arguably Rangers’ most-creative player, it was a surprise. Rangers legend Miller described Kent’s reaction, saying he did not look happy.

“He doesn’t look happy at being substituted, Ryan Kent,” Miller said, as quoted by BBC Live’s coverage. “He has been quiet.

“But he’s always capable of producing something. Him and Joe Aribo, those are the two players in Rangers jerseys that can make something happen.”

Miller on Kent: A worry for Rangers, as Gerrard eyes Villa move?

A report from 90Min says Steven Gerrard wants Kent to follow him to Villa – as one of four players Gerrard could target. He did look unhappy.

Should Rangers fans be concerned, or is it simply that he was frustrated in the moment? Could the exit of Gerrard have a long-term impact on Kent?

Kent has not been devoid of Premier League interest and it is likely that he will one day, step foot back down south in the top tier of English football.

Leeds have been heavily linked, and now Villa. For now, Kent is likely to be annoyed at the result – but van Bronckhorst must make him happy again.
