‘Outstanding’… Stiliyan Petrov blown away with 23-year-old Celtic player’s dribbling vs Aberdeen

The plaudits continue as the pundits and former players pour over Celtic’s outstanding win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership yesterday.

Brendan Rodgers will be delighted that his team talk had the desired effect as he watched his Celtic side reverse the Champions League scoreline of just less than a week ago.

Whilst the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi has been lauded by Chris Sutton and Hyunjun Yang took the applause from James McFadden, Stiliyan Petrov pointed out how he was impressed with Luis Palma and what he brought to the win.

The former Celtic hero was really impressed with the Honduran international and loved watching him work his magic down the left flank against The Dons.

Petrov said [Sky Sports], “Luis Palma, without being under pressure, he does what he does best to get to the byline and then just puts a cross into the box.

“And that’s what we’ve been seeing from Celtic. Just having bodies in the box and it is a great reaction from Yang.

“Just instinct that he can get to the ball in the last moment but he keeps his eyes on the ball. But this is where Luis Palma, who’s been outstanding today, who kept taking players on and creating opportunities for Celtic.”

Palma’s match stats in the 6-0 win were seriously impressive. The 23-year-old just seems to improve with each passing week at Celtic and has now embedded himself into Brendan Rodgers’ first team.

Not for the first time has Palma impressed this season. In Europe, he has been excellent. His performance and goal against Atletico Madrid is where I believe he really grew in confidence.

Domestically in Scotland, he is proving to be one of the best players in the league right now. Five goals and five assists this season have made him such an important attacking threat for Celtic.

And that right boot of his really is something special. The international break will be interesting. After hitting the headlines for Honduras in October, Palma will be looking to make himself just as important for his country as he is for Celtic.
