With Atletico Madrid next up for Celtic, it’s fair to say that Brendan Rodgers has a tough job on his hands picking a team that is going to get a result against the La Liga club.
Whilst there are players like Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley and Cameron Carter-Vickers who will be a stick-on to start, Chris Sutton believes that there is one more player who will feature after his performance against Ross County at Dingwall.
Sutton said [Sky Sports], “No fingers in the ears today. It’s about, simply, for David Turnbull doing his talking on the pitch. We know that he’s got a brilliant strike on him.
“And eventually if you give him time and space anywhere around the box he can do that to any opposition.
“But it’s about raising his level of performance game in and game out and giving Brendan Rodgers, when everybody’s fit, food for thought.
When asked by Kris Boyd if he would play on Tuesday against Atletico Madrid, Sutton replied, “He will play Tuesday I suspect, yeah.
What a difference 90 minutes makes though. TBR Celtic told earlier today that Sutton believed Brendan Rodgers didn’t trust Turnbull during his pre-match build-up up and now he has him playing against one of the top teams in Europe.

Whether that’s as a starter or from the bench is anyone’s guess. There are three players vying for the Reo Hatate spot and after his goal yesterday and midweek, Turnbull has put himself in with a great chance of starting.
All eyes will now be on the teamsheet on Tuesday night and if Turnbull does start, he will do his chances of getting a new Celtic contract no harm at all.
