‘Doing very well’… John Hartson says 22-year-old player is brilliant for Celtic right now

John Hartson has said that he has been left seriously impressed with Celtic striker, Hyongyu Oh, after his recent performances for Brendan Rodgers in the Scottish Premiership.

The South Korean international got twenty minutes on the pitch for Jurgen Klinsmann‘s side and despite the 5-0 scoreline over Singapore, Oh failed to hit the back of the net again on international duty.

But Oh’s unfortunate goalscoring record for his country doesn’t really come into how well he is doing for Celtic. Not for John Hartson anyway.

The former Celtic hero was waxing lyrical about the 22-year-old and has been left mightily impressed with the young striker this season so far.

Hartson said [The Go Radio Football Show], “I was in particularly delighted with Oh. He doesn’t let anybody down. Every time he comes on he’s running, he’s closing down, he’s offering himself to the team and he’s willing to run him behind.

“And he’s adding goals. He’s physical as well and just gives Celtic a different option. And besides that, he is impressing the supporters. He’s doing very well.”

Hyeongyu Oh has great potential for Celtic

The Korean’s goals in his last two outings show exactly what he brings to the club. With many pundits believing that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t trust him, Oh has answered those critics in the best way possible.

By hitting the back of the net. Scoring the winner against St Mirren two weeks ago was followed up with a cracking double in the 6-0 rout of Aberdeen, Oh put to bed any notion that he doesn’t have a future at Celtic.

With a run of games and decent gametime on the pitch, the youngster will prove his worth to the team. And it looks like he may get that opportunity after Kyogo Furuhashi suffered a serious head injury in the weekend’s win over Barry Robson’s side.

But for now, Oh has one more international game left to impress Jurgen Klinsmann in this break and we will keep a close eye on how he is doing.
