John Hartson says Celtic should ‘definitely’ try and sign £25m player who would ‘excite’ the fans

Former Celtic striker, John Hartson, has urged his old club to try and sign Portuguese winger, Jota, in January.

The former Celtic hero said that recapturing the Portuguese winger would be a signing that would excite the supporters and has urged the club to try and get it done.

Hartson said [The Go Radio Football Show], “Well, I think that supporters would definitely like to see it happening it’s just whether the club can structure the deal.

“Let’s not forget how good he was under Ange. We got him on loan from Benfica as a young lad. Not very not much experience not many first-team appearances for Benfica and he came into the club and he was absolutely terrific.

“Personally, I can’t see it happening but if there’s a deal there and the clubs get together and Jota wants to come back and the club wants him to come back.

“He’s gone to Saudi, he’s not enjoying it and he’s not playing regularly. I can’t see it happening, but I think that will be one that would excite the fans.”

I spoke earlier on TBR Celtic and said that a deal to get Jota to Celtic is unlikely to happen. But what is clear is the rumours are certainly not going away.

Spurs look the most likely to land the Portuguese winger as Ange Postecoglou has the financial clout to tempt Jota to make the switch to London.

But like I said earlier, maybe, just maybe, Jota’s heart could rule his head and a return to Paradise might not be as impossible as some people think.

Like all Celtic fans, I can but dream because, if anything, Jota and Luis Palma on both wings feeding Kyogo Furuhashi would almost certainly guarantee that the Scottish Premiership title would stay in Glasgow’s east end.
