John Hartson delivers four word verdict on Celtic’s win over St Mirren

It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t silky but Celtic got the three points against St Mirren and, at this stage of the season, that’s all that matters.

Brendan Rodgers’ side left it late after going behind to an early St Mirren goal. The Buddies surprised the Hoops by taking a seventh-minute lead but goals from David Turnbull and Hyeongyu Oh were enough to ensure the three points stayed at Celtic Park.

The starting lineup was a bit of a surprise. No Cameron Carter-Vickers, Daizen Maeda or Paulo Bernardo from the team that drew with Hibs, Celtic made three changes to try and spark some life into the Celtic attack.

It almost went wrong but Celtic’s domination of the match won through and the lead at the top of the table was intact.

John Hartson’s verdict on Celtic’s win was simple

The former Celtic hero took to social media channel X and posted his thoughts on the win. And it’s an opinion that every Celtic fan will share this morning when they look at it objectively.

Hartson said [X], “3 points.. that’ll do 👍🏻🍀”

That’s it. It’s three important points that keep Rangers at bay. At this stage of the season, the Hoops are coming out of a horrendous run of fixtures which means witnessing glitzy and silky football isn’t always going to happen.

Sometimes you have to grind results out against the likes of St Mirren and that’s what happened last night.

That win is how champions win league titles. Yes, the Celtic supporters want to see their team win with style but they also know that sometimes, it’s just the result that matters.

Brendan Rodgers can now look forward to Saturday where the early kick-off against Ross County at Dingwall will hopefully allow Celtic to extend their lead at the top to eight points.

In other news, John Hartson names two players who could leave Celtic in January, including ‘fantastic’ 31-year-old player
