Owen Hargreaves is a ‘big fan’ of 28-year-old Celtic player, he thinks he’s ‘brilliant’

Former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, has admitted that he is a ‘big fan’ of Celtic striker, Kyogo Furuhashi.

The four-time Bundesliga winner was speaking prior to Celtic’s crucial Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid when he confessed that he loves how Furuhashi works hard for the team up front.

Hargreaves said [TNT Sports], “I’m a big fan. I think he’s a good ballplayer. I think he’s calm and they’re the one they’re going to look to to get the ball into his feet.

“Whether it’s to release Kyogo because he’s brilliant at running into those channels, into those spaces.

“I think that as good as Atletico Madrid is and the experience that they have, they wouldn’t have played against many players like Kyogo.

“He is relentless in terms of the way he presses.”

Kyogo Furuhashi is vital for Celtic

The Japanese striker has proven his worth to Celtic since signing for the club two seasons ago. And prior to last night’s disastrous result in Madrid, the Hoops forward was starting to make his mark in the Champions League.

The 28-year-old’s role in the Celtic team has changed under Brendan Rodgers but he is still managing to find the back of the net regularly.

So far this season he has scored seven goals for Celtic and is the club’s current top goalscorer. He will undoubtedly look to emulate last season’s success and finish the season at the top of the goalscoring charts again this year.

Tied to a new long-term deal, the Celtic fans will get to enjoy the 28-year-old striker for a few more years yet as they hope Kyogo’s goals will help continue the Hoops domination of Scottish football for many more years to come under Brendan Rodgers.
