Mikel Arteta says £27m Arsenal player’s consistency is simply ‘amazing’

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on William Saliba’s consistency and progression at the club over the last year.

The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table right now, and Saliba is one of the biggest reasons why. He is among the best defenders in the country, and the fact that he is still only 22 means he will only get better in the coming seasons.

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal defender William Saliba

Arsenal signed William Saliba back in the summer of 2019 for £27 million (Goal).

The Frenchman didn’t get a sniff of first-team football at the Emirates and was sent out on loan on three different occasions – first to Saint-Etienne, then to Nice and finally to Marseille.

It was only on the opening day of last season that Saliba made his Premier League debut at Arsenal, and he has been magnificent since.

The Gunners would’ve likely won the title last season if the 22-year-old didn’t get injured at the business end of the campaign. That shows just how important he is to the club.

Arteta is absolutely delighted with Saliba’s progression and consistency. The Spaniard claimed that he and his coaching staff are ‘so happy’ to have him at the club now.

When a reporter asked him if what Saliba is doing at such a young age is ‘extraordinary’, Arteta replied, as relayed on HaytersTV: “Yes, for sure. And what Gabi is doing as well, and some other players.

“With Willy, his progression is amazing, his consistency is amazing and we’re so happy to have him.”

William Saliba could help Arsenal win the Premier League

Arsenal came ever so close to winning the Premier League title last season.

The Gunners spent over two-thirds of the campaign on top of the table, and it was only after William Saliba got injured that they began to struggle.

Arsenal are currently on top of the Premier League table and Saliba has once again played a key part for Mikel Arteta‘s side over the last four months.

If the Frenchman can stay fit until the end of the season, we think the Gunners will be crowned Premier League champions.
