‘Deadly’…Chris Sutton was seriously impressed with ‘superb’ Celtic player’s finishing yesterday

Chris Sutton is the latest pundit to react to Celtic’s rousing 6-0 win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Celtic striker was on commentary duty for Sky Sports when Kyogo Furuhashi knocked in Celtic’s second and didn’t hold back on what he thought of the 28-year-old immediately after scoring his eighth goal of the season, his 62nd overall.

Sutton said [Sky Sports], “Kyogo, his positioning, superb. Right between the sticks. Clever little movement and Kyogo, deadly as ever.”

Kyogo Furhashi continues to be so important for Celtic

The 28-year-old has been an outstanding signing for Celtic ever since Ange Postecoglou spent £4.6m on him over two seasons ago.

Not only does he score goals, he is also a major part of how Celtic defend from the front and attack from deep.

This season under Brendan Rodgers, Kyogo has been asked to play a different role and whilst it takes away from his natural game, the Japanese striker is now a more effective weapon for Celtic.

Playing a deeper role, Kyogo drags defenders with him to open up spaces for the Celtic midfield. That’s why we are seeing the likes of Matt O’Riley and David Turnbull contribute with goals this season.

Hopefully, the head knock he received yesterday isn’t too bad and he will make a speedy recovery as it is clear that when he plays, Celtic are more potent in the attack and opposition defenders hate playing against him.
