Celtic predicted XI vs Ross County: Brendan Rodgers gives ‘exciting’ 20-year-old his first SPFL start

Celtic’s trip to Dingwall to face Ross County is likely to be a tricky fixture for Brendan Rodgers to negotiate this afternoon.

Celtic travel north full of confidence after their dogged performance against St Mirren on Wednesday night kept their five-point lead at the top of the table intact.

And before they head to Madrid on Tuesday night to face the might of Atletico, Rodgers must make sure his side take care of SPFL business first.

Ross County is a tough place to go. Celtic are always made to work hard in the Highlands and that means that nous, swagger and players full of confidence will be needed to secure the three points.

That’s why I have Odin Thiago Holm and Hyunjun Yang in my predicted XI to face The Staggies today.

Odin Thiago Holm gets his first SPFL start for Celtic vs Ross County

For such a young player, the 20-year-old Norwegian international does have a good pedigree. Already capped at senior level, Holm has the confidence and dare I say it, arrogance, to make it at Celtic.

The youngster has shown in the seven appearances he has mad for Celtic that he has great passing ability, is aggressive in midfield and has good vision as well.

He has backed up his appearance against Aberdeen with good performances against Rangers at Ibrox and again with his assist on Wednesday night in the 2-1 win over St Mirren.

His stats for that match were very impressive and he will be on a high. A start against Ross County will further boost his confidence and there is no doubt he could do a job for Celtic’s midfield this afternoon.

Hyunjun Yang gets the nod for Celtic vs Ross County

What can I say about the South Korean? His form has been patchy at best but against St Mirren he looked sharp and electric.

His stats from the match showed that not only was he impressive in the attacking third, Yang also chipped in with his defensive work as well.

I’ll be honest, the jury was out on the winger for me. But after watching him against St Mirren Yang looks like he still has a lot to offer Brendan Rodgers.

Giving him more game time will help his progression and starting against Ross County is the perfect opportunity for Rodgers to do that.
