Five aerials won, four interceptions, 83% pass rate: Celtic star shines again, continues rejuvenation

Anthony Ralston was brilliant for Celtic again as the Hoops squeezed past Ferencvaros – and the stats are further proof of his incredible turnaround.

Ralston, 22, was expected to be sold in the summer – having only played 20 times previously for the Hoops. But his rejuvenation has been stunning.

The right-back has sparkled for Celtic under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou. Josip Juranovic was signed, but Ralston has kept his place.

Clocking up 22 appearances for Celtic in all competitions – helping the Hoops keep nine clean sheets. He also scored four goals, creating two more.

On Thursday night, WhoScored gave Ralston a rating of 7.37 for his efforts as the Hoops ran out 3-2 winners over Ferencvaros, a crucial win.

Ralston stats: Celtic defender deserves new contract, and more

WhoScored report Ralston won five aerials, more than any of his teammates. Not only that, but Ralston was just as effective in attack.

Along with his four interceptions – again, more than any other teammate – Ralston produced six accurate long balls out of a possible eight.

His passing accuracy was up 83%, and he attempted three crosses. The right-back was excellent, even if he did not close down the second goal.

Ralston is quickly becoming one of the first names on the team sheet under Postecoglou. His stats are proof, and he deserved that new contract.
