Along with Bentancur, Postecoglou confirms another Tottenham player is injured until the new year

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Ashley Phillips will be out of action until the new year because of his injury.

Spurs have been really unlucky recently, haven’t they? Losing James Maddison and Micky van de Ven for the rest of this year was bad enough, but to make things worse, Rodrigo Bentancur is out until February as well. Phillips, who is also injured, is not expected to play again in 2023.

Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham’s Ashley Phillips is out until the new year

Tottenham were one of the best teams in the country after the first 10 games of the season in the Premier League, but they have fallen off recently.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have lost three games on the bounce now, and things are only going to get tougher with a trip to Manchester City coming up tomorrow.

Rodrigo Bentancur is ruled out after he suffered an injury against Aston Villa, while the likes of Maddison and Van de Ven are not close to returning either.

Young Ashley Phillips, who picked up an injury during the international break, is also set for a spell on the sidelines, and Postecoglou confirmed yesterday that he will be out until the new year.

The Tottenham boss said, as per Football London: “He’s out long term as well, sort of new year for him as well.”

Ashley Phillips could’ve made his Tottenham debut

Tottenham signed Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers in the summer for just £3 million (Standard).

The talented young centre-half was always going to be one for the future, but after Van de Ven picked up an injury and Cristian Romero got himself suspended, there was a chance for Phillips to play in the Premier League.

90min reported recently that Postecoglou was about to hand Phillips his Tottenham debut, but his injury in the international break ruined it for him.

It will be interesting to see if the youngster will get a chance when he returns next month.
