Report: Club want to take ‘fantastic’ £13m Tottenham man this summer and Conte is open to doing business

Well, it’s hardly gone well for Pierluigi Gollini at Tottenham has it, and according to reports coming from Italy, the stopper could be on his way back to Serie A this summer.

Spurs signed Gollini last summer as the first signing of the Nuno Santo era. They snapped him up on loan, with an option to buy for £13m inserted into the deal. However, the Italian has been unable to dislodged Hugo Lloris in the sticks and has become frustrated with a lack of playing time.

But, in what could be good news for Gollini, Lazio are said to be keen on signing him anyway. That’s according to La Lazio Siamo Noi , who report that that Rome club want to make Gollini their new number one if they can.

A move is likely for Gollini, with Antonio Conte said to be happy to see the Italian leave. Conte hasn’t been impressed enough by his fellow countryman, and is likely to look elsewhere in the summer.

TBR’s View: Gollini Was Never Going To Work At Tottenham

When he has played, he’s looked ropey, and when he hasn’t played, he’s behind France’s number one goalkeeper in Lloris, who, to his credit, labelled his teammate as ‘fantastic’ not so long ago. For Gollini, it was always going to be a tough gig at Tottenham.

In a way, Fabio Paratici will be relieved he negotiated the loan deal rather than a straight purchase. Paratici will simply have to put this one into the disaster signings bin and move on.

For Gollini himself, he’ll welcome the move away you’d think. And if he does sign for Lazio, then that’s still a huge club.
