Report: Tottenham told to pay £17m to sign 28-year-old right-back, contract until 2024

La Lazio Siamo Noi claim that clubs will have to pay a bargain £17million to sign Lazio defender Manuel Lazzari in the January window. Tottenham are among the clubs to be linked, while Bologna are said to have made a bid.

Lazzari, 28, has been excellent for Lazio since he joined the club in the summer of 2019. He has clocked up an impressive 100 appearances in all competitions – offering versatility to Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Naturally a right winger, the two-time Italy international has been converted into a right-back of late. In that time, he has had a hand in 14 goals – scoring four goals and laying on 10 assists.

LLSN state that Bologna have made an offer to sign Lazzari from Lazio – but only a fee worth £6.75million. However, Lazio want something closer to £17million. Spanish newspaper AS say Tottenham are keen on Lazzari.

Tottenham have got to sign Lazzari, if £17million deal available

Lazzari offers the attacking nous and creativity of a right-winger, given his years in midfield or as part of a front three. But the Italy star is also hard-working, and defensively knowledgable.

So, perfect in the wing-back role – Lazzari would suit Conte’s system to a tee. Do they need him? Well, Emerson Royal is first choice and Lazzari would struggle to overtake him – but he is an improvement on Matt Doherty.
