Report: Arsenal maestro set to end Emirates hell, Mourinho and Lazio keen

Lucas Torreira looks set to end his Arsenal nightmare by making a move to Serie A in the near future, according to Football London. The Uruguayan was on loan with Atletico Madrid last season, winning the Serie A title with Los Rojiblancos.

During 2020/21 he made 26 appearances for Diego Simeone’s team. He didn’t impress sufficiently in order to get a permanent move to La Liga.

Both Roma and Lazio are credited with interest but a decision hasn’t yet been made on which outfit he will join ahead of the new season.

Torreira posted on Instagram some time ago that he was back in London. It is not thought, however, that he’s back at Arsenal, with Arteta not considering handing him a reprieve.

The midfielder looked a decent signing when he first joined the Gunners. He checked in from Sampdoria and has made 89 appearances for the football club.

His time at the club looks to be coming to an end. It seems in the best interest of all parties that Torreira parts ways with the Gunners and he did thrive in Italy previously.

Having spent heavily on players this summer, Arsenal getting a transfer fee and £75,000-a-week away from their wage budget would be a huge bonus.

Arsenal right to cash in on Torreira

Quite simply it hasn’t worked out for the international performer. He hasn’t adapted to life in the Premier League and has never convinced Arteta.

A move seems to suit all parties and Arsenal fans will welcome this exit.

Moving to Roma would be an interesting one. It would see him link up with former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and earlier this summer he courted Granit Xhaka.

Arsenal have done some interesting business this summer, although this does look like a piece of business that will be deemed unanimously right in the eyes of supporters.
