Report: Everton want to raid Jose Mourinho’s Roma for Pedro, Carlo Ancelotti has always been a fan

Italian website CalcioMercato is reporting that Everton are interested in signing Roma winger Pedro. The veteran wide man is set to reunite with his ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at the Italian club – but Carlo Ancelotti has other plans. He wants the Spanish wide man at Goodison Park.

Pedro, 33, has two years remaining on his Roma contract having joined the Italian outfit last summer from Chelsea. Clocking up 40 appearances in all competitions under Paulo Fonseca, he had a hand in 13 goals. Despite Roma’s poor league position, he has been decent for Serie A outfit.

Everton have taken note. Although Pedro turns 34 in July, they are keen to bring him back to the Premier League – where he spent five seasons with Chelsea. Certainly, he is a born winner, boasting a World Cup, three Champions League titles and a Premier League winners medal.

The latest report claims Ancelotti has always been a fan of the ex-Barcelona winger – but has never had a chance to sign him, until now. Everton are keen on bringing him to the Premier League, where he scored 29 goals in 137 games. Pedro or Roma’s stance is an unknown.

Is Pedro a good signing for Everton?

The advantages certainly outweight the one major disadvantage – which is his age. While he is soon to turn 34, Pedro is clearly still very fit, fit enough to play for a side that reached the Europa League semi-finals. The advantages are that he knows the Premier League inside out.

He would probably be available for a cheap-ish figure due to his age, but would still offer plenty of quality to Everton. Work rate, goals, assists, magic from nothing – Pedro is capable. Everton also could do with a winger or two. It seems like a match made in heaven.
