Newcastle fans react as club reportedly offered chance to sign Chelsea star Pedro

Newcastle United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Chelsea winger Pedro on a free transfer this summer, as the Spaniard looks set to enter the final two months of his current deal – and Toon fans are desperate to get him signed.

The Chronicle have claimed that 32-year-old Pedro has been offered as a potential new signing to the club’s prospective owners, who are reportedly edging closer to completing a takeover and ending Mike Ashley’s 13-year reign as owner.

Newcastle have been linked with a number of high-profile players over the last few weeks since reports of the Saudi Arabia-backed bid. The likes of Phillipe Coutinho, Kaildou Koulibaly, Edinson Cavani and plenty more are said to be targets.

Indeed, Pedro is not the only Chelsea player to be linked with a move to St. James’ Park. Willian – who is also out of contract – is said to be a target, and ESPN reckon the new-look boardroom has made contact with the Brazilian’s agent.

Pedro is certainly a player with an enormous pedigree, having won the World Cup with Spain and the Champions League with Barcelona. In 2013, Neymar claimed – as quoted by Goal – that Pedro had surprised him following his move to Brazil.

“I really like Pedro a lot. He is capable of doing everything on the pitch,” Neymar said. “He scores, he runs without the ball, he attacks, he defends, he does it all. He is perhaps the player who has surprised me the most.”

Newcastle supporters reacted on Twitter to reports that their club had been offered the Chelsea winger, and the majority have urged their potential new owners to complete a move for the winger.
