‘Exquisite’: Nations media react to £3.5m Celtic player’s performance vs Hearts

Celtic’s win over Hearts has dominated the headlines in the Scottish press over the past 48 hours. Players like Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi have been, rightly, praised for the demolition of the Tynecastle side.

Brendan Rodgers’ men blitzed the Edinburgh side on Sunday afternoon in a fantastic team effort that showed the Celtic fans just how the Hoops boss wants to play his football.

This morning TBR Celtic posted an article giving credit to Liam Scales for his performance that went under the radar and now, Luis Palma is next.

The Honduran has been brilliant for Celtic in the last three fixtures. Two goals and an assist in his three outings have shown just how much of an impact he is starting to make under Brendan Rodgers.

And that impact is being felt in his homeland where Palma is a bit of a superstar. During the international break, the £3.5m signing from Aris made the CONCACAF Nations League Team of the Week.

His assist for Honduras in the 4-0 win over Cuba was brilliant and earned him rave reviews from the Honduran press. And his performance against Hearts also has the same media raving about him.

Honduran news outlet, Diez, said of Palma, “The Catracho attacker was one of the great protagonists of the match thanks to his exquisite assist that broke the home defence.

“Brendan Rodgers decided to take the ‘Bicho’ [The Bug] off in the 65th minute to give him a rest and he left to applause”

Palma’s performance against Hearts was rated a 7.7 by football website, SofaScore. On top of his assist, WhoScored reported that in the 65 minutes Palma spent on the pitch he made three key passes, had one shot on target, made one interception and had a passing accuracy of just under 80%.

All that was missing from the winger was a goal but having said that, it was a real all-round top performance from Palma.

Let’s hope he takes his good form into the Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night where Celtic’s European hopes hang by the thread.
