‘Some player’… Curtis Jones thinks 24-year-old Liverpool star was on fire vs LASK last night

Liverpool picked up a comfortable 4-0 win over LASK in the Europa League last night, and Curtis Jones seems impressed by Cody Gakpo’s performance.

Jurgen Klopp‘s side had the opportunity to win their group yesterday, and they did it in style. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz got on the score sheet, but Gakpo was the main man as he netted twice.

Curtis Jones thinks Cody Gakpo was on fire for Liverpool last night

Cody Gakpo has been a very good player for Liverpool since he joined them in January this year.

The Dutch international gives Jurgen Klopp a ton of options. He can play anywhere in attack and also in midfield, and he has done well in almost all of those positions.

Last night against LASK, Gakpo started up front instead of Darwin Nunez, and the 24-year-old had a fantastic game in front of goal.

He doubled Liverpool‘s lead in the 15th minute before scoring again in stoppage time to help his side beat the Austrians 4-0 at Anfield.

After the game, Curtis Jones posted a picture of himself with Gakpo on his Instagram Story.

He wrote in the overlay text, “Some player”, followed by a fire emoji, suggesting that his good pal was on fire for Liverpool against LASK last night.

Gakpo’s best position

One of the things that makes Liverpool star Cody Gakpo so good is his versatility.

The Dutchman can easily play in five different positions, and he is really good in all of those roles. Jurgen Klopp definitely loves the fact that he gives him so many options.

However, all of Gakpo’s six goals this season have come when he has played as a centre-forward. Dirk Kuyt has even backed him to score 20 goals a season.

Perhaps, that is his best position in this Liverpool side, and it will be interesting to see if he gets the nod again on Sunday when the Reds take on Fulham.
