As the season heads into the home straight, Liverpool remain in pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.
The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup and are in the final of the FA Cup.
Liverpool are also just one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
And on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp’s charges built up a healthy lead in the Champions League semi-finals.
Liverpool hosted Villarreal at Anfield and ran out 2-0 winners in a game where they dominated throughout.
The hosts boasted 73 percent of possession, won 10 corners and had 19 shots.
Villarreal did hold them at bay throughout the second half, but in the second half, Liverpool finally broke through.

In the 53rd minute, Jordan Henderson’s cross took a huge deflection off Pervis Estupinan.
The ball looped over goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, who got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it from nestling in the corner.
Just two minutes later, Liverpool had grabbed their second.
Mohamed Salah poked a ball through the legs of Pau Torres for Sadio Mane, who coolly slotted beyond the keeper.
All the while, Liverpool either had possession, or barely gave their opponents any time to rest on the ball.
The Reds will obviously not get complacent ahead of next week’s second leg.
Nonetheless, Liverpool will surely fancy their chances of reaching the final in France.
“Amazing to see”
Late on in the game, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk did something which perfectly summed up why the Reds are so good.
Klopp’s charges were two up and pretty much home and dry, but he still shouted at Ibrahima Konate to move the ball quicker.
BT Sport pundit and Anfield cult hero Peter Crouch spotted this.
“To me it’s always the mentality,” he said after the match (27/4/22, 21:57).
“I looked at Konate put his foot on the ball towards the end of the game.
“They were 2-0 up and cruising and Van Dijk was screaming at him to move it quicker, move it quicker.
“It’s the mentality of being 2-0 up and still wanting to go for more, it’s amazing to see.”
Liverpool’s opponents have no respite from the Reds’ fierce press, and the players themselves don’t tolerate anything short of full intensity until the final whistle.
This is a trait which all the best teams in history have had, and one that’s sure to culminate in more silverware for Liverpool this season and beyond.
