Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was beyond impressed with Sadio Mane after his goal against Villarreal last night.

Unai Emery brought his Yellow Submarine to Anfield with the aim of staying in the game ahead of the second leg. His plan worked in the first half as the two sides went in at the break on level terms, a result that would’ve favoured the Spanish outfit.

However, just eight minutes into the second half, Liverpool broke the deadlock thanks to an own goal from Pervis Estupinan. Just moments later, in the 55th minute, Mane doubled the hosts’ lead and that sealed the game.

Klopp absolutely loved that goal and his reaction after the game showed he was shocked that Mane managed to even get near the ball.

Jurgen Klopp wowed by Sadio Mane’s goal for Liverpool last night

Klopp spoke to beIN Sport after the game last night and he was asked about Mane’s strike in the 55th minute. It’s safe to say, he was shocked that his Senegalese superstar got on the end of it.

The Liverpool boss said: “Top pass from Mo, but the spring of Sadio… I didn’t think he’d get the ball, so how can the goalie think he gets the ball.

“Super goal and a top-class performance but it is just half-time. We know there’s another 90+ minutes to play and we have to make sure we’re ready for that.”

Liverpool, in a way, got lucky with their opener last night, but their second goal was a really impressive one.

The way Salah turned and slid the ball through into Mane’s path and the how the AFCON champ managed to get there and poke it past Rulli was simply phenomenal.

All the praise around Liverpool players this season has gone Salah’s way, while Luis Diaz has been making most of the headlines since his move in January.

However, Mane may just be Liverpool’s most important player at the moment and the £34m man is giving Karim Benzema a run for his money in the Ballon d’Or race.
